Electronica 2022: OKdo Releases ROCK 5 Model B SBC

OKdo has released the ROCK 5 Model B, a powerful new Single Board Computer (SBC) with dual 8k HDMI outputs, 8 GB RAM, a Neural Processing Unit (NPU), and even a 4K HDMI Input.

OKdo ROCK 5 Model B

The board is based on the Rockchip Rockchip RK3588 SoC, featuring an Arm Quad Cortex A76, a Quad Cortex A55 CPU, and an Arm Mali™ G610MC4 GPU. Other notable features include an eMMC slot, full USB-C support, including Power Delivery, and a built-in realtime clock.

We spoke with Raul Hernandez Fernandez, OKdo Applications Engineer, about the new board and its capabilities.

The test demo showing multiple instances of object recognition from different video feeds was impressive, running at high frame rates. This presumably could be enhanced further using the onboard video capture port, allowing it to slot into existing camera systems to add AI and logging. Another notable feature is heat dissipation. The board is fanless, yet it was only slightly warm to the touch under stress.

We are looking forward to getting out hands on one of the new RCK 5 Model B boards to test it (and, of course, give it away on the Electromaker YouTube Show!)

The new board is still showing as "Coming Soon" on the OKdo website, but you can order one from the OKdo store preorder link, which claims dispatch will happen within 14 days.
