Led Clothes Controlled By Emg Muscle Sensor!

About the project

A spontaneous project that brought together technologies from different fields - smart textiles and wearable sensors. I wanted to try to expand the ability to control LEDs - not only switching programmed patterns but also affecting them directly, using only my hands!

Story

Since this project is more of a proof-of-concept, I used the regular WS2812 and ESP32 programmable LEDs here to program the patterns. In fact, the most difficult thing was to find suitable clothes...

Since the LED strip is quite rigid, therefore, a warm hoodie was taken for the experiment. First, I soldered the system of LED elements, sewed it on with ordinary threads. The food is made from a power bank. To record muscle activity, I used uMyo (EMG device). As a result, the control turned out like this - when the fists were clenched, a white LED pulses ran down the sleeves. Looks very cool! We plan to try to integrate more options for the interaction of muscle and LED activity in the future.

I hope this project will expand your understanding of the possibilities of interaction between different types of technologies.
