The Technology Behind the Weather-Predicting Cloak

Core Components: At the heart of this project is the Blues Note Card, which handles GPS positioning and cellular communication. Paired with an ESP32 microcontroller, it acts as the brain of the operation, processing real-time weather data and relaying it to an LED strip. The LED strip then lights up in various colours to visually represent weather conditions such as sunshine, rain, wind, or storms.

API Integration: The cloak leverages weather data retrieved through an API, making it a seamless system for providing accurate forecasts. The Blues Note Card communicates with the API to gather data, while the ESP32 interprets and translates it into visual cues. This setup demonstrates how powerful and straightforward API integrations can be for DIY projects.

Prototype Design: The current prototype uses a bare LED strip to display weather patterns, making it a proof of concept. However, makers can enhance the design with conductive thread or diffused LEDs for a sleeker, more polished look, expanding its appeal and versatility.
