Story

The project is about a desk-based attention checker to help prevent people from overworking during this time of the pandemic.

A person cannot give full concentration for an extended period of time. Generally, 25 minutes is considered the maximum continuous duration for which a person can give full attention. Keeping this in mind, the Pomodoro (Tomato) technique helps people pay attention to their work for 25 minutes and take rest for the next 5 minutes. These chunks of 30 minutes help increase productivity while relieving stress.

The device works by detecting the user using the pi-cam. Once it has detected the user, it then starts a timer of 25 mins. Meanwhile, it also keeps tracks of any smartphone in the vicinity. If it detects one, the device waits for 10 seconds before notifying the user to put the smartphone aside and get back to work. Those 10 seconds are not included in the timer which is running in the background. Once 25 minutes are over, the device notifies the user to take a break by blinking the LED and playing a victory tune.
