Just curious where you would put the Raspberry Pi VPN? Putting it on your home network would just show the same IP address, wouldn't it?

I guess that the purpose of such VPN would be to grant you the access to "regular" websites while in vacation in countries that have some kind of censorship, not to make you anonymous.

Thanks for the nice tutorial. Literally, here you showed 2 different ways of installation processes of VPN (PiVPN & OpenVPN). Which one you recommend to use?

Why does it list an account at a vpn provider like ipvanish as a requirement for the project? As I understand it this would be a replacement project.

Yeah, anywhere on your home network should be fine. I'd suggest hooking it up via Ethernet, directly to your router or modem. But Wi-Fi should work just fine.

PiVPN is a way to install OpenVPN, so they're essentially two different ways to install the same VPN software. I updated my tutorial to include Wireguard as well which is a great alternative. Since it's now included in the Linux kernel, I'd suggest Wireguard, but OpenVPN is an oldie and goodie, so you can't go wrong with that.

You can check different vpns for it.  For example,  here VeePN which work good for internet surfing and you can protect your data and unblock banned stuff without problems.
