Hi Shawn thanks for your message.
I see in your message you are running the code with Python 2.7, and the tutorial was written in Python 3. There are a few differences behind the scenes which means that sometimes code is not interchangeable between the two versions.
Please could you try running the code with Python3 and see if the error repeats?

python3 conf_badge.py

Thanks
Les

I tried making this today. I 3d printed the casing from the Thingiverse model.

Two of the three pieces fit perfectly around the InkyPhat. But the piece for the Raspberry PI was too short. I ended up using a sharp scissors plus a file to make it fit; is there another version of the PiZeroW piece ?
I only have the STL version in TinkerCAD, I'm not sure how to make it fit properly there by modifying the model. Is there an OpenSCAD version that would make it easier to manipulate?

Thanks for the project, I can post my results once I get my pi configured & running.

I still haven't gotten the STL file cleaned up, but I *have* created an "InkyPhat Badge" project on Hackaday.io @ https://hackaday.io/project/159554-inky ... for-badges . I credit Les Pounder as the originator of this idea (natch) and hope that he and others reading this will join my project as well .

Has anyone (Les?) figured out a nice simple method for attaching a battery to this setup? I see the battery in the images (I assume it is an 18650) but i really want to make as selft-contained unit that hangs on a lanyard or something like that.

Any ideas? I've looked through Thingiverse and nothing really "grabs" me ... if anyone is interested I'll post a model once I figure it out.
